Ancient Mew - such a classic and there's nothing else like it!

In the late 90s when I was 10, PokéMania was real. I would dream about going on Pokémon adventures with Ash Ketchum who was also 10. My name in Pokémon Yellow? Ash. I collected everything that had a Pokémon on it. I traded cards at lunch and on the playground. Charizard was the ultimate grail. Burger King had life-size Pokéballs with 23k Gold collector cards. eBay was the only place to discover exotic and different cards. Then, Pokémon The First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back came to theaters and we all lost our minds. Free promos with Kids WB stamps. The collection was only growing.
Somehow along the path of growing up, I lost interest. Lost or sold my cards. Got rid of my posters, shirts, and toys. All of it - gone.
Then in 2018, Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee came out for the Nintendo Switch. A remake of the Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow I loved so much. Playing that game was like getting slapped in the face with nostalgia. The story, the map, the music - it was perfect. Then I started to notice TCG packs here and there, and would pick some up for my kids for Christmas stockings. More Pokémon games would come out and I'd play some with the kids. But then it happened.
Scarlet & Violet 151 was released. The ultimate nostalgia bomb for millennials like me. And better yet, Costco had pallets of them! The rest is history. Like so many others, 151 sucked me back in and I've jumped straight into the deep end!
Collection profile
After mastering SV 151, I found other mini sets I wanted to master: Southern Islands, 25h Anniversary Celebrations, Amazing Rares, Radiant Pokémon -- even the Time Magazine covers 😅. I also fell in love with the art style of Miki Kudo. You likely know her from the SV 151 SIR Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard. I now own every Miki Kudo illustrated card!
Lately I've been working on two sets: WOTC Black Star Promos and a custom 151 binder that will feature extended/special art exclusively. Since not every Kanto Pokémon has a special or extended art option, it's fun to know it'll take me a while to complete it!
I have 4 cards left to master the WOTC Black Star Promos. They're so pricey though!
Phantasmal Flames Mega Charizard X. That one has eluded me through so many rips! 😭
Five questions
What would make your collection feel complete?
That's one of the blessings and curses of this hobby, it's never complete!
Do you have a collecting ritual or habit?
Every card in my collection gets sleeved. Holo or not!
Which card artwork would you hang on your wall as a print?
Kingdra ex Promo #131 from S&V. It's beautiful
How do you organize or display your collection?
I like to rotate what I have on display, but I'll keep my favorites on an Ikea SKADIS Peg Board with magnetic cases. I also have a mini 2-tier shelf I 3D printed that sits on my desk.
Which card would you never sell, and why?
My Southern Islands Mew. The entire Southern Islands set is so fun and playful, but that Mew is something special!
